The Civil Engineering with Architecture program provides insight into the architect's role in construction and the collaborative relationship between architects and civil engineers. This distinctive degree is offered in partnership with The Glasgow School of Art, featuring a design-focused architectural component centered around studio work, where students create sketches, drawings, models, and compile professional portfolios.
Students participate in a week-long residential construction project called 'Constructionarium,' constructing scale models of famous structures using various building materials.
The program includes a five-week interdisciplinary Interact project, collaborating with Architecture students from Glasgow School of Art and Quantity Surveyor students from Glasgow Caledonian University. Engineering-focused student organizations like Glasgow University Civil Engineers (GUCE) and Engineers Without Borders offer additional engagement opportunities.
Graduates have secured positions with leading firms including WSP, Atkins Global, and Mott MacDonald.
Our programs hold accreditation from the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine, the Institution of Engineering and Technology, and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, supporting pathways to Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status. The MEng program meets the requirements for applying for Chartered or Incorporated Engineer certification upon graduation.
