The Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies operates as a multidisciplinary Area Studies department focused on research and education. Housed in a custom-designed facility, it unites experts across diverse fields including anthropology, archaeology, literature, linguistics, political science, history, sociology, and religious studies. Our scholars work collaboratively both within the Institute and through Exeter's academic networks, while also engaging in national and global research initiatives. We maintain that integrating multiple disciplines with regional and historical expertise under one roof significantly enhances our collective academic output.
Both faculty members and postgraduate researchers are connected to our specialized research centers, providing platforms to present findings, engage in academic discussions, and contribute to ongoing research initiatives.
