The Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies operates as an interdisciplinary Area Studies department focused on research and education. Housed in a dedicated facility, it unites experts across anthropology, archaeology, literature, linguistics, political science, history, sociology, and religious studies. Our scholars work collaboratively within the Institute while maintaining active participation in Exeter's academic networks and contributing globally. We maintain that housing diverse disciplines, regional expertise, and historical perspectives under one roof significantly enhances our collective scholarly output.
