The Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies operates as an interdisciplinary Area Studies department focused on research and education. Housed in a dedicated facility, it unites experts across anthropology, archaeology, literature, linguistics, political science, history, sociology, and religious studies. Our scholars work collaboratively within the Institute while maintaining active participation in Exeter's academic networks and contributing globally. We maintain that housing diverse disciplines, regional expertise, and historical perspectives under one roof significantly enhances our collective scholarly output.

Both faculty members and postgraduate researchers join one of our specialized research centers, where they present findings, engage in seminars, lectures, and collaborative projects.

Graduates from our Arab and Islamic Studies programs have established successful careers worldwide, benefiting from the Institute's prestigious standing. Alumni have secured positions across various sectors including higher education, media, national security, and government.

Exeter postgraduates gain access to extensive professional networks, career support, and training opportunities through our Career Zone services.

Research students particularly benefit from our specialized Postgraduate Researchers' Program, designed to support PhD success and launch academic careers through comprehensive skills development.
