The Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies operates as a multidisciplinary Area Studies department focused on research and education. Housed in a custom-designed facility, it unites experts across diverse fields including anthropology, archaeology, literature, linguistics, political science, history, sociology, and religious studies. Our scholars engage in collaborative work both within the Institute and through Exeter's academic networks, while also making significant contributions to global scholarly discourse. The unique integration of multiple disciplines, geographical focuses, and historical expertise within our shared space significantly enhances our collective academic output.
Both faculty members and postgraduate researchers are connected to one of our specialized research centers, where they present their findings and engage in academic activities including seminars, lectures, and collaborative research initiatives.
