The Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies operates as a multidisciplinary Area Studies department focused on research and education. Housed in a custom-designed facility, it unites experts across diverse fields including anthropology, archaeology, literature, linguistics, political science, history, sociology, and religious studies. Our scholars work collaboratively both within the Institute and through Exeter's academic networks, while also engaging with national and global research communities. The unique concentration of various disciplines, regional expertise, and historical perspectives under one roof significantly enhances our collective academic output.
Both faculty members and postgraduate researchers join one of our specialized research centers, where they can present their work, engage in academic discussions, and contribute to ongoing research initiatives through seminars, lectures, and collaborative projects.
