The Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies operates as a multidisciplinary Area Studies department dedicated to research and education. Housed in a custom-designed facility, it unites experts across diverse fields including anthropology, archaeology, literature, linguistics, political science, history, sociology, and religious studies. Our scholars work collaboratively within the Institute while maintaining active participation in Exeter's disciplinary networks and contributing to global academic discourse. The unique integration of multiple disciplines, geographical focuses, and historical expertise under one roof significantly enhances our collective scholarly output.
Both faculty members and postgraduate researchers are connected to our specialized research centers, where they present their work, engage in academic discussions, and contribute to ongoing research initiatives through seminars, lectures, and collaborative projects.
