Communities across the globe are confronting growing public health crises, ranging from infectious disease outbreaks to mass migration and dwindling natural resources. The COVID-19 crisis has particularly highlighted the intricate connections between community wellbeing and broader economic, social, political, environmental, and commercial factors that influence both human and planetary health in our interconnected world. Our MSc Global Public Health program encourages students to examine these interconnected challenges, critically evaluate health policies, and conduct groundbreaking research to foster transformations that promote fairness, sustainability, and wellbeing.
Most countries worldwide have endorsed international human rights principles and the UN's Sustainable Development Goals, pledging inclusive progress. Yet achieving these objectives demands insight into the fundamental causes of growing global inequality and how overlapping crises exacerbate disparities while diverting attention from necessary systemic changes. By gaining a comprehensive grasp of these connections, you'll build a framework for examining the expanding political influence of multinational companies and influential organizations (including philanthropic foundations) on worldwide and national policymaking. This program provides the theoretical knowledge and practical skills to assess systemic discrimination - including racism and colonial legacies - both domestically and internationally, enabling you to help tackle the underlying causes of resulting social inequities.
This program prepares graduates to assess and contribute to creating rights-based, evidence-driven public health initiatives at local, national, and international levels. Consequently, it will appeal to professionals and aspiring specialists in: public health policy & practice, healthcare and social services, humanitarian work, international development, and academic research.
