Our multidisciplinary School of Sport, Rehabilitation and Exercise Sciences provides research supervision across all areas of faculty expertise in sports science, exercise science, and related fields. As a research student at Essex, you'll join the core of our well-established research network. The School boasts an outstanding reputation for both research and academic instruction.
Our cutting-edge facilities feature diverse equipment including ergometers, treadmills, portable gas analyzers, force plates, isokinetic dynamometers, a Vicon motion tracking system, electronic timing devices, comprehensive blood analysis systems (with pulse and co-oximetry capabilities), and multiple EMG setups. Students can also explore non-invasive brain function assessment through our school's resources and partnerships with the cognitive neuroscience lab in our Psychology Department, utilizing EEG, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), and near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) technologies.
