Our MPhil in Speech and Language Therapy provides a distinctive chance to conduct research across diverse healthcare and organizational settings. Whatever your specialized research focus, we probably have an experienced supervisor to guide you through this journey. You'll have the chance to enroll in our Masters-level research methods courses, building essential research competencies. You can also benefit from the University's Proficio research training program, enabling you to select workshops tailored to your research focus and methodology.
This MPhil program is available as a 2-year full-time or 4-year part-time option, with an additional year for thesis completion. Some students opt for an MPhil before pursuing a PhD to refine their research abilities and showcase their dedication and time management to prospective supervisors or funding bodies.
The School of Health and Social Care collaborates closely with our Service User Reference Group (SURG), comprising patients, caregivers, and volunteers who openly share their healthcare experiences. Together with SURG, we shape our curriculum to prioritize patient and client needs. SURG members participate in admissions processes and interview panels, helping us identify the most suitable candidates. They also contribute to teaching and research, offering invaluable firsthand perspectives on living with health conditions. This enriches not just your clinical expertise but also your empathy, compassion, and advocacy skills.
