Our MPhil Computing and Electronic Systems research and supervision focuses on key areas: biometrics, evolutionary-fuzzy systems, neuro-genetic systems, computational intelligence and gaming, embedded systems, smart environments, and robotics. These interdisciplinary projects leverage the combined expertise of our electronic engineers, computer scientists, mathematicians, physicists, and psychologists.
As one of the UK's largest and most well-equipped schools, we operate with extensive networked computing resources, specialized software, and comprehensive testing equipment. Our research spans diverse fields—from semiconductor physics and computation theory to artificial intelligence and robotics—with most groups housed in state-of-the-art laboratories. Annually securing multi-million-pound external funding, we collaborate on EU initiatives and partner with governmental and industrial organizations.
Joining our School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering allows both new graduates and professionals to develop or refine their technical skills.
Our alumni hold leadership roles across industries and academia. Notable employers include Electronic Data Systems, Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, Bank of Mexico, Visa International, Hyperknowledge (Cambridge), Hellenic Air Force, ICSS (Beijing), United Microelectronic Corporation (Taiwan), and various positions within our University.
