Our research efforts and academic guidance for the standard two-year MPhil in Computer Science focus on key areas: artificial intelligence, biologically inspired systems, educational technology, e-learning, evolutionary computation, natural language processing, software agents, and software engineering. These interdisciplinary initiatives leverage expertise from our teams in electronic engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, and psychology.
As one of the UK's largest and most well-equipped schools, we operate with extensive networked computing resources, specialized software tools, and diverse testing instrumentation. Our research spans computational theory, computer science philosophy, computational intelligence, gaming technology, artificial intelligence, and robotics, with most groups housed in state-of-the-art laboratories. Securing multimillion-pound annual funding, we engage in EU programs and collaborate with governmental and industrial partners on contracted projects.
Enrolling in our School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering enables both recent graduates and professionals to develop new competencies or refine existing expertise.
Alumni have advanced to leadership roles across industries and academia. Notable employers of our graduates include Electronic Data Systems, Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, Bank of Mexico, Visa International, Hyperknowledge (Cambridge), Hellenic Air Force, ICSS (Beijing), United Microelectronic Corporation (Taiwan), and various departments within our University.
