Our four-year LLB Law with Philosophy (including foundation year) program helps you build subject expertise while enhancing academic abilities. The foundation year (Year Zero) provides comprehensive preparation in these areas, setting you up for three subsequent years of undergraduate studies at Essex. Upon successfully completing Year Zero through our Essex Pathways Department, you'll advance to Essex Law School to finish your degree.
This program allows you to explore diverse philosophical and legal subjects. Philosophy modules introduce key philosophical concepts, while law modules examine fundamental common law areas (contract, tort, and crime) along with public law concerning citizen-state relationships.
This combined curriculum delivers rigorous academic training in both fields, sharpening your critical thinking, analytical, and debate skills. You'll learn to apply philosophical methods to legal matters and recognize legal aspects of moral and ethical questions. By graduation, you'll possess advanced capabilities in critical thought, analysis, and argumentation.
