The LLB Law with Literature program provides comprehensive education in both legal studies and literary arts, cultivating critical thinking, creativity, and analytical abilities. While highlighting connections between these fields, you'll examine their distinct methodologies and perspectives. The program fosters an understanding of law's role in society and its interplay with literary works.
Core subjects span both disciplines, supplemented by diverse elective options:
American, Caribbean, and Transatlantic literary studies, Poetic forms, modern experimental works, and politically engaged texts
Intellectual property law, Global environmental regulations

At Essex, we don't merely train future legal or literary professionals. We ignite your passion for justice while providing tools to drive meaningful change, regardless of your chosen career path.
From day one, we encourage strategic career thinking. During your first two years, alongside academic studies, you'll complete professional development modules to assess your strengths, understand employer expectations, and build marketable skills. Our annual law career fair connects students with legal firms and training organizations.
Alumni enter diverse professions including legal practice, business, finance, government, education, social services, and law enforcement.
