The LLB Law with Literature program provides comprehensive education in both legal and literary studies, cultivating critical thinking, creativity, and analytical abilities. While highlighting connections between these fields, you'll examine their distinct methodologies and perspectives. The course fosters an understanding of law's societal role and its interplay with literature.
Core subjects span both disciplines, complemented by diverse elective options:
American, Caribbean, and Transatlantic literary works, poetic forms, and modern experimental or politically engaged writing
Intellectual property law, Global environmental regulations

At Essex, we don't merely train you for legal or literary professions. We inspire you to champion justice while developing transferable skills for meaningful careers across various sectors.
Beginning in your first year, we encourage strategic career planning. During the initial two years, alongside academic studies, you'll complete professional development modules to assess strengths, understand employer expectations, and build employability. Our annual law career fair connects students with legal firms and training providers.
Alumni enter diverse fields including legal practice, finance, public service, education, social work, law enforcement, and corporate sectors.
