Our four-year LLB Law with Literature program (including a foundation year) is designed to build your subject expertise while enhancing your academic abilities. The foundation year (Year Zero) provides comprehensive preparation in these areas, setting you up for three subsequent years of undergraduate studies at Essex.
From day one, you'll be part of Essex's vibrant global community, studying at the UK's most internationally diverse campus university.
The LLB Law with History program offers rigorous training in both legal and historical disciplines, fostering critical thinking, creativity, and analytical skills. You'll examine connections and contrasts between these fields, exploring different methodological approaches while gaining insight into law's historical dimensions.
At Essex, we don't merely train you for legal or literary careers. We inspire you to champion justice and provide the tools to become a catalyst for change, regardless of your chosen profession.
From your first year, we encourage strategic career thinking. During years one and two, alongside core subjects, you'll complete career management modules to identify strengths, understand employer needs, and boost employability. Our annual law fair connects students with legal firms and professional qualification providers.
Our alumni enter diverse fields including law, business, finance, government, education, social work, and law enforcement.
We advocate realistic ambition - understanding both yourself and today's competitive job market. Throughout your Essex journey, our Student Development Team collaborates with academic staff to help shape your career strategy.
