Psychologists perform experiments to examine mental functions like perception, decision-making, memory, and speech. Cognitive Neuroscientists connect these inquiries directly to brain mechanisms: they employ neuroimaging methods to identify which brain regions facilitate these functions. They also utilize time-sensitive imaging technologies to investigate the precise sequencing of these processes. Collaboratively, scientists from both fields strive to chart the connections between neural activity and behavior.
You'll explore modern research topics across various domains such as visual perception, auditory processing, memory systems, and linguistic functions. You'll gain comprehensive insights into research approaches, current scientific knowledge, optimal methodologies for different investigations, and how interdisciplinary collaboration advances our understanding of seemingly simple yet profoundly complex questions. You'll experience an engaging, practical learning environment with strong support systems.

A psychology degree with cognitive neuroscience specialization, particularly one recognized by the British Psychology Society, equips you with fundamental skills for specializing in various sectors including educational psychology, consumer behavior, or health psychology.
Numerous psychology graduates pursue careers beyond conventional psychology roles. The competencies developed during your studies create opportunities in medical diagnostics, personnel management, and human-centered professions like Senior Assistant Psychologist or special education specialist.
