This program focuses on world-building through storytelling. You'll develop narratives, characters, and plots to construct immersive virtual environments for players to explore. Combining artistic vision with technical expertise, our Essex curriculum equips you with comprehensive game design and programming skills, empowering you to fully realize your creative visions.
Our curriculum develops your ability to design and implement sophisticated games by concentrating on these key aspects:
Game mechanics, including interactive elements and their narrative integration
Fundamental principles of game programming
Both physical and digital environments
AI systems for non-playable characters
Visual effects and interactive elements in 2D and 3D spaces (such as combat systems)
Upon completion, you'll be capable of drafting complete design documents for original games and bringing them to life using professional development methods.

Qualification Requirements

GCSE: Mathematics C/4 A-levels: BBB - BBC or 120 – 112 UCAS tariff points from a minimum of 2 full A-levels BTEC: DDM – DMM or 120 – 112 UCAS tariff points from a minimum of the equivalent of 2 full A-levels. Other qualifications that hold UCAS tariff points, and combined qualifications: 120 – 112 UCAS tariff points from a minimum of 2 full A levels or equivalent. IB: 30 - 29 points or three Higher Level certificates with 555-554. Either must include Standard Level Mathematics grade 4, or a minimum of 3 in Higher Level Mathematics. We will accept grade 4 in either Standard Level Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches or Standard Level Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation. Maths in the IB is not required if you have already achieved GCSE Maths at grade C/4 or above or 4 in IB Middle Years Maths. IELTS- 6.0 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in each component TOEFL IBT- 76 overall, with a minimum of 18 in reading, 17 in listening, 20 in speaking and 17 in writing
