Our BSc Biochemistry (including foundation year) is ideal if you don't currently meet the entry requirements for the standard three-year program and need additional preparation to succeed academically.
This four-year program begins with a foundation year (Year Zero) offered by our Essex Pathways Department, followed by three years in the School of Life Sciences. Year Zero includes three subject-specific modules and a mandatory academic skills component, with English language support available for international students. Upon completing Year Zero successfully, you'll advance to the main degree program.
During your three years in the School of Life Sciences, you'll explore the structure-function relationships of biomolecules, examining the intricate cellular mechanisms governing vision and apoptosis. The curriculum spans multiple disciplines including genetics, microbiology, forensic science, and pharmaceutical development. Biochemistry's significance continues to grow, with remarkable advancements made in the past century. Now is an exceptionally rewarding time to engage with this dynamic field of scientific inquiry.
