Our BA in History and Sociology encourages you to examine how these two fields interact and complement each other. As a history student, you'll delve into both early modern and contemporary eras, tackling complex issues about how political, social, and cultural transformations affect individuals, communities, and geographical areas. The sociology component examines what unites and divides societies, analyzing everyday interactions from political engagement to personal relationships and identity formation. The curriculum covers diverse subjects like colonialism, social inequality, cultural studies, identity politics, citizenship, multiculturalism, and human rights.

International Study Opportunities
Your learning journey isn't confined to campus. We facilitate global education through study abroad programs at partner institutions. The four-year degree option includes a third year abroad or an international placement, mirroring the three-year program's content otherwise. International study enhances cultural awareness, broadens academic perspectives, and showcases valuable skills like adaptability and organization to future employers.

Placement Year Option
Upon enrollment, you can choose to incorporate a placement year into your studies. While securing placements is your responsibility, you'll receive support from your department and our Employability and Careers Center. Students undertaking a placement year benefit from reduced tuition fees, paying only 20% of the standard rate for that academic period.
