Progress in data collection technologies across healthcare and biological research, powered by contemporary computing and information systems, has significantly revitalized the interconnected disciplines of Medical Informatics and Data-Driven Biomedicine.
The Centre For Medical Informatics within Edinburgh's Usher Institute of Population Health Sciences and Informatics launched on 1 April 2015 (coinciding with Harvard Medical School's creation of a Biomedical Informatics department that same year).
Integrating informatics with biomedical science is crucial for progressing toward 4P medicine (tailored, anticipatory, proactive, and patient-involved healthcare).

A UK 2:1 honours degree and a UK masters degree, or their international equivalents. We will also consider a UK 2:1 honours degree, or its international equivalent, and significant work experience in an area relevant to your research project.
