The Infection Medicine (IM) center at the University of Edinburgh is a collaborative hub bringing together academic and clinical researchers from the Edinburgh Medical School to study infectious diseases. This multidisciplinary facility explores fundamental, translational, and clinical research across diverse pathogens, operating under the broader Edinburgh Infectious Diseases (EID) network.
The center delivers comprehensive education for Biomedical Sciences (BMS), Biological Sciences (BS), and Medical (M.B.Ch.B.) students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Its educational offerings span from foundational infectious disease courses to advanced online and in-person Masters programs, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities, and a dedicated PhD track in Infection Medicine.
With a globally diverse community of researchers and students, IM fosters an international, cross-disciplinary environment. Its principal investigators spearhead and contribute to numerous research initiatives and policy projects with collaborators throughout the UK, Europe, and worldwide. These efforts include playing a pivotal role in establishing and running the Zhejiang University-University of Edinburgh Institute (ZJE) in China.
