The Institute for Adaptive and Neural Computation (ANC) stands as a globally recognized center focused on studying adaptive mechanisms in both artificial and biological systems through theoretical and experimental approaches. As one of the UK's most prominent and sizable academic groups in these domains, we excel in cutting-edge interdisciplinary research.
We cultivate exceptional collaborative research that bridges multiple scientific disciplines.
Our work spans three primary research domains:
machine intelligence
neural computation studies
biological computing systems
Within machine intelligence, we create probabilistic techniques to identify data patterns and structures, implementing them across various scientific and technological challenges. These methods find applications in fields ranging from astronomical research to healthcare and information technology.
In neural computation and neuroinformatics, we investigate information processing in the brain while analyzing and interpreting experimental neuroscience data.
