The Institute for Adaptive and Neural Computation (ANC) stands as a globally recognized center focused on studying adaptive mechanisms in both artificial and biological systems through theoretical and experimental approaches. As one of the UK's most prominent and sizable academic groups in these domains, we excel in cutting-edge interdisciplinary research that bridges multiple fields.
Our work spans three primary research domains:
machine intelligence
neural computation science
biological computing systems
Within machine intelligence, we create probabilistic techniques to identify patterns and organization in data, implementing these methods across various scientific and technological challenges. These applications range from astronomical studies to healthcare innovations and computational advancements.
In computational neuroscience and neuroinformatics, we investigate neural information processing while analyzing and interpreting experimental data from brain research studies.
