Psychologists explore how biological and social factors shape human behavior, as well as the variations in individual interests and capabilities.
Their research delves into perception, cognition, and learning processes, alongside verbal and non-verbal communication. They investigate how mental capacities evolve throughout a person's lifetime.
As a scientific discipline, psychology relies on experimental and observational evidence to formulate and assess theories. Our program emphasizes research methodology and statistical analysis training to complement our research-driven curriculum.
Business studies examine management principles and practices, analyzing interactions between individuals, organizations, and their environments.
Year 1 - Introductory psychology lectures and tutorials cover cognitive neuroscience, developmental psychology, memory, perception, individual differences, language, cognition, and social psychology. Students learn fundamental research methods, statistics, and gain hands-on laboratory experience. The Foundations of Business course provides insights into modern organizational structures and operations, applying social science concepts through various teaching formats. An introductory economics course is recommended.
Year 2 - Core psychology studies continue with the addition of abnormal psychology. Students enhance professional skills including academic research, report writing, and ethical considerations. A comprehensive year-long research methods and statistics course prepares students for Year 3. Business electives may include finance, economics, marketing, innovation, analytics, or entrepreneurship.
Year 3 - Advanced psychology courses fulfill British Psychological Society accreditation requirements. Students undertake specialized research training in both qualitative and quantitative methods. Business studies include compulsory Strategic Management and Research in Management courses, plus electives in ethics, entrepreneurship, consumer behavior, marketing, and related fields.
Year 4 - Students complete an honors dissertation in either psychology or business, along with specialized psychology option courses that integrate core psychological domains: biological, developmental, cognitive, social, and individual differences.
