Art history courses will guide you through artistic creations across various eras and global traditions. You'll discover the creation processes, intended audiences, and cultural contexts of artworks, while examining their placement within broader visual and material culture. The curriculum delves into artistic interpretations and evolving analyses of visual culture. During your third and fourth years, you can focus on specific areas of interest, undertaking self-directed research projects and completing a thesis. Year 3 offers study abroad opportunities. We aim to cultivate graduates with sophisticated insights into artistic expression and visual culture throughout history, equipped with comprehensive knowledge of art historical methodologies.

The standard entry requirement is:
SQA Highers: AAAB-ABBB by end of S5 or AAAA-AABB/ABBBB by end of S6. BBB must be achieved in one year of S4-S6.
A Levels: ABB.
IB: 36 points with 665 at HL - 34 points with 655 at HL.

SQA Highers: ABBB by end of S6. BBB must be achieved in one year of S4-S6.

IELTS Academic module overall 6.5 with 5.5 in each component.
