Design Informatics bridges the intersection of data, culture, and creative design. We envision alternative possibilities, challenge conventional perspectives, and explore data as a creative medium.

Our approach combines experimentation, speculative thinking, and critical analysis, grounded in academic research and real-world applications. We develop curious, skilled professionals and innovative entrepreneurs who pioneer data-driven solutions with worldwide impact.

We experiment with crafting both tangible and digital creations, along with innovative data objects. Through prototyping, evaluating, modifying, and reimagining, we examine data's societal significance and how design can influence future perspectives through problem-focused exploration.

Data Informatics operates under the Institute of Design Informatics, drawing insights from research initiatives and industry collaborations spanning Edinburgh College of Art and the School of Informatics.
