This five-year Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery (BVM&S) degree equips you for diverse roles within the veterinary field. Our curriculum trains future veterinary professionals for general practice or specialized areas including small animals, livestock, equine care, or exotic species. The program also lays the foundation for advanced clinical specialization. You'll have opportunities to engage in wildlife disease control, conservation efforts for endangered species, governmental roles, or livestock education initiatives in developing nations. Research careers are another potential path. The School houses the renowned Roslin Institute, which partners with the Moredun Research Institute and Scotland's Rural College in the Easter Bush Research Consortium - a global hub for animal science expertise. While numerous graduates build lifelong careers in veterinary practice, others leverage their Edinburgh education to excel in research, government, business, and academic fields.
