This program culminates in Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) certification for teaching students aged 11-16, enabling you to teach in secondary schools across England and Wales. When feasible, we also provide opportunities to work with the 11-18 age group.
Ensuring all young learners achieve proficiency in at least one language is critically important.
This ongoing need for specialized language educators means trainee teachers can access some of the most substantial training bursaries available.
French, German, and Spanish dominate language curricula in East London schools, with additional options including Italian, Russian, Mandarin, Japanese, Urdu, and Bengali.
At UEL, our teacher training program will guide you in revealing language's beauty to students through practical applications in commerce, daily life, and cultural contexts.
Our secondary education training comprises three core components: specialized subject instruction, general teaching methodologies, and practical school placements. Unlike many university programs, ours maintains a strong subject-specific focus.
We collaborate closely with multiple London boroughs including Barking & Dagenham, Newham, Tower Hamlets, Hackney, Waltham Forest, and Redbridge.
Our alumni network spans nearly every secondary school in east London, with many graduates advancing to leadership positions - some now oversee placements for our current trainees.
From mathematics to modern languages, our graduates frequently mentor the next generation of teachers across all subject areas.
