We'll help you grow into an exceptional geography educator who can make the subject vibrant through creative lesson planning and dynamic teaching methods that captivate all students.
Your training includes focused subject studies that build your geographical knowledge and teaching skills within secondary education. Our curriculum continuously evolves to reflect current educational policies and regional/national priorities.
Campus-based training begins with weekly lectures on key themes, followed by seminar discussions. You'll collaborate in both subject-specific and interdisciplinary groups. Our approach mirrors school environments, emphasizing small-group learning with cohorts of about 30 students rather than large lecture halls, ensuring ample subject-focused interaction.
The University of East London established its Secondary PGCE program in 2001 through collaboration with local authorities to combat teacher shortages in East London's secondary schools. Our partnership receives ongoing support from multiple London boroughs including Barking & Dagenham, Newham, Tower Hamlets, Hackney, Waltham Forest, and Redbridge.
