Pursuing a PhD through UEL's School of Education and Communities in the Department of Social Sciences will challenge you to your fullest potential, with guidance from our renowned faculty throughout your journey. Our research initiatives consistently enhance outcomes in adolescent self-harm intervention, suicide prevention strategies, and child welfare systems. The department's social work and policy research spans from global human rights issues to practical applications, including practice-based social work research and digital media solutions for individuals with learning disabilities. We employ geospatial analysis and computational modeling to inform crime prevention, public health initiatives, and social welfare policies. Our sociology research encompasses diverse fields such as cultural anthropology, political economy, social psychology, psychoanalysis, global development studies, political science, migration research, urban studies, and gender studies.
