The mechatronics and computer systems engineering program integrates concepts from mechanics, electronics, control systems, computing, automation, and robotics to develop, build, and evaluate intelligent cognitive systems and devices that incorporate these diverse fields. Throughout this bachelor's degree, you'll acquire expertise in engineering processes, system design, artificial intelligence, machine learning, digital electronics, and the synthesis of these technologies. This foundation will empower you to conceptualize and bring to life your own intelligent mechatronic systems, transforming ideas into tangible innovations. The curriculum provides comprehensive coverage to prepare you for a successful career in mechatronics engineering, including pathways toward achieving Chartered Engineer status. You'll cultivate a dynamic engagement with engineering while learning to adapt to advancements in automation, mechanical systems, robotics, and the broader engineering field.
Graduates may pursue opportunities in aerospace, automotive, rail transport, defense, manufacturing, and marine engineering sectors. As a professional, you'll design, enhance, maintain, and oversee advanced engineering systems incorporating state-of-the-art technologies.
Your expertise will be valuable across multiple domains including design innovation, research initiatives, product development, sales engineering, production oversight, quality assurance, and safety compliance. You'll implement novel approaches to industrial challenges by combining mechanical, electronic, and computing technologies - such as designing robotic systems for underwater exploration missions.
