Our program delivers an engaging yet practical, hands-on experience in sports journalism. By graduation, you'll be a skilled multi-platform journalist, prepared to work across newspapers, magazines, radio, TV, digital media, and mobile applications.
Throughout the course, you might interview the England cricket team captain, cover a Football League match, tour Wembley Stadium or Sky Studios, or write features from UEL's £21 million SportsDock facility in London's Olympic Park for our Rising East platform. With guidance from industry-active sports journalism instructors, we'll nurture your sporting passion and expertise to help you communicate it effectively.
If you don't qualify for direct BA entry, you can opt for our four-year extended program starting with a foundation year that ensures smooth progression to the degree. Full-time completion takes four years; part-time requires eight years.
You'll master every facet of sports journalism - from crafting instant post-match reports to creating televised sports content.
Consider London your training ground. Hone your skills by covering capital city sporting events and securing interviews. Our students have reported on events like the Europa League final in Dublin and interviewed legends including Ray Wilkins, Andre Villas-Boas, and Alastair Cook.
The comprehensive professional training in sports writing equips you for diverse roles across the sports industry. Graduates have secured positions not only in sports media but throughout the sports sector, with employers like Red Bee Media, Weber Shandwick PR, and Coral bookmakers.
For those not meeting standard BA requirements, our four-year extended option begins with a foundation year to prepare you for degree-level study. Full-time students complete in four years; part-time students in eight years.
