The BA Fine Art program at the University of East London provides a vibrant, thought-provoking, and cross-disciplinary creative space for students looking to focus on contemporary art production, opening doors to diverse career opportunities across cultural and creative sectors.
Within our distinctive Visual Arts department, we recognize how modern art intersects with numerous fields. The curriculum is delivered by active artists, curators, cultural leaders, and writers—many with global exhibition records, published works, and collaborations with public/private institutions—who bring their professional insights directly to students. The course facilitates interactions with external partners and working professionals through initiatives like Detour Ahead, Cultural Manoeuvres, guest lectures, and field trips.
The foundation year serves as an ideal starting point for those pursuing fine art studies who may not yet meet standard admission criteria. This preparatory year equips students with essential academic skills and subject knowledge before advancing to the full bachelor's program.
Our fine art scholars explore diverse mediums including sketching, oil/acrylic work, three-dimensional art, immersive installations, cinematography, digital imagery, and live art. Typically working autonomously rather than on commission, their creations often distinguish themselves through aesthetic excellence or profound meaning, achieved via inventive techniques, masterful execution, or strong conceptual foundations. Bold experimentation and creative risk-taking further define their unique artistic voices.

Graduates emerge as self-assured, network-savvy professionals. Alumni frequently secure spots in prestigious postgraduate programs like those at RCA and the Royal Academy, while others establish independent studios or creative enterprises. Career paths include curation, arts education, and cultural management roles.
