Our research approach is motivated by a commitment to deepen knowledge about human societies and their evolution through history and literature, while exploring themes of power and identity that emerge from these studies. We maintain specialized research teams focusing on American Histories, American Literatures, American Studies, and Area Studies. Our broad expertise includes significant work on 19th and 20th century America, power dynamics and social movements, spatial and environmental studies, mainstream and experimental literature, transatlantic and transpacific connections, and cross-cultural interdisciplinary research.

The minimum academic requirement for entry to a doctoral degree and MPhil degree is a UK upper second class undergraduate honours degree and a Master's degree, or equivalent.

IELTS - 7.0 overall with minimum of 6.5 in each component.
TOEFL iBT - 98, (Reading 20,Writing 19 , Listening 19, Speaking 21), Pearson Academic English - 76 overall with minimum of 67 in each component.
