This four-year program fosters a lasting passion for understanding Earth's processes. You'll investigate how our planet's interconnected systems shape the environment while examining challenges that impact our future.

About one-third of your studies will focus on mathematical methods and analytical skills for evaluating physical environments. The curriculum cultivates critical thinking about cutting-edge research topics while providing thorough knowledge of research methodologies and their constraints. You'll gain independent thinking skills and creative approaches to applying knowledge, solving challenges, and conducting investigations.Fieldwork plays a major role, with opportunities in diverse geological settings. Field courses teach practical skills using advanced equipment like seismic and gravity instruments, magnetic and electrical measurement tools, and ground-penetrating radar systems. Our geophysics programs are collaborative efforts between the School of Environmental Sciences and the School of Mathematics, with additional input from the School of Computing Sciences. This interdisciplinary approach offers wide-ranging subject options and allows for advanced specialization. You can focus your studies on geological geophysics, natural hazards, weather and climate science, ocean studies - or combine these exciting fields.
