You'll enhance your creative skills, expand your understanding of American literature, and build professional connections through the American Studies department while complementing your studies with modules from the School of Literature, Drama and Creative Writing. This prestigious program counts Nobel laureate Kazuo Ishiguro among its distinguished alumni. Additionally, you'll have opportunities to attend talks by acclaimed American writers like Michael Chabon and Jesmyn Ward during UEA's renowned writers' festival.

Norwich provides the perfect setting for this program, boasting a thriving literary community and recognition as a UNESCO City of Literature. Your studies will include a year abroad, allowing you to deepen your appreciation of American literature while experiencing another culture firsthand.

These experiences will prepare you for your final year, where you'll take specialized courses and complete a self-directed dissertation with faculty guidance. You may also choose to produce a creative dissertation that blends academic research with original creative work.
