This program serves as the initial step for those pursuing a conventional path into secondary education. It focuses on the Initial Teacher Education component of your professional journey. After successfully completing an induction year in a school setting (Teaching Induction Scheme), you'll earn certification to teach Physics across Scotland.
We equip you to instruct various science components within both the broad general education curriculum and the senior phase aligned with Physics National Qualifications.
Through two campus-based learning modules paired with three practical school placements, you'll develop essential teaching competencies and hands-on experience. The curriculum delves into pedagogical theories for teaching Physics to students of different age groups, while also providing training on effectively fostering literacy, numeracy, and overall student well-being.

Qualification Requirements
A UK degree or a degree of an equivalent standard from outside the United Kingdom. The content of your degree must be relevant to the subject you want to teach.
Your degree must contain passes in at least two Teaching Subject Qualifying Credits (TSQC) in the subject you want to teach.
TSQC is the term given to the parts of your degree which are related to the subject as it is taught in Scottish secondary schools. A TSQC will represent approximately one-third of the total study in one academic year (at least 80 undergraduate credit points of which 40 have to be at Level 8 or above) for the SCQF Framework for higher education.
You also need to have a Higher grade pass in English, or equivalent.

Mathematics at SCQF Level 5 (National 5 Mathematics, National 5 Application of Mathematics, Credit Standard Grade, or Intermediate 2), or equivalent.
