Forensic dentistry involves analyzing, managing, and presenting dental evidence for legal proceedings.

You'll enhance your expertise, practical abilities, and understanding in forensic dentistry, along with elements of forensic medicine, legal principles, and investigative methods.

Your studies will cover:

dental identification and profiling, including workshops on mortality and psychological biases with a specialist
disaster victim recognition techniques
determining age through dental analysis
preparing dental reports and providing courtroom testimony
the challenges associated with bite mark analysis
Hands-on training includes:

conducting dental autopsies using Thiel-preserved specimens (through CAHID's specialized facilities)
capturing images with mobile X-ray equipment
analyzing pre-death and post-mortem dental records
participating in simulated trials and gaining direct experience with PlassData software for disaster victim identification

Qualification Requirements

Prospective applicants must hold a recognised dental degree (BDS or equivalent). At least 2 years post-qualification dental experience is desirable – this is not a strict requirement but those with experience will be considered ahead of newly-qualified. IELTS Overall 6.5 - Listening 6.0, Reading 6.0, Writing 6.0, Speaking 6.0. The TOEFL score would be Overall:88; writing:23, Listening:21, Reading:20 and Speaking:20.
