Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) encompasses methods and tools designed to assist individuals with limited or no verbal communication abilities.
AAC solutions address diverse challenges, including hearing impairments, cerebral palsy, and autism spectrum disorders. These tools can either enhance existing speech capabilities or serve as complete communication substitutes while also fostering language acquisition. Our institution is globally recognized for AAC innovation.
The program teaches students to create technological solutions tailored for individuals with significant speech and mobility challenges, as well as adults recovering from aphasia. Coursework involves direct engagement with AAC users to understand their preferences and needs. Additionally, we collaborate with speech therapy professionals to identify ideal research opportunities.
