This program provides an opportunity to enhance your abilities, understanding, and self-assurance before progressing to the first stage of your honors degree. Get ready for fulfilling careers in fields ranging from avionics and medical electronics to automotive electrical systems, power generation, rail transport, or entertainment technology. Select a course approved by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) to begin your path toward becoming a Chartered Engineer (CEng). Incorporating a foundation year into your four-year study plan gives you an academic and professional advantage. The initial year allows you to build your capabilities, expertise, and confidence with comprehensive guidance from our specialists before moving on to your honors degree. It's also ideal if you're considering a career shift and need to familiarize yourself with new subject areas.
Upon completion, numerous career paths in electrical and electronic engineering will become available. Potential fields include avionics, medical electronics, automotive systems, power generation, rail technology, or entertainment industries.
Our alumni have secured positions in electrical/electronic system design, installation, programming, maintenance, and related sectors. Derby graduates are now working on vehicle embedded systems, power distribution networks, railway signaling, and rolling stock improvements. Others oversee industrial operations across various sectors, from beverage production to manufacturing assembly lines.
