This program provides an opportunity to enhance your abilities, understanding, and self-assurance before progressing to the first stage of your honors degree. Opt for our foundation year pathway if you wish to solidify your expertise and capabilities prior to entering the BA (Hons) Education Studies program. Tailor your degree to align with your interests and goals by selecting one of our specialized tracks in Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) or Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). Starting from the foundation year, you'll experience all the advantages of being a University of Derby student, with additional guidance to help develop your knowledge, skills, and confidence.
Our BA (Hons) Education Studies with Foundation Year opens doors to diverse career possibilities not only in education but also in social care, healthcare, career guidance, and the nonprofit sector.
Our alumni have found success in roles such as advanced teaching assistants, child welfare protection officers, early childhood practitioners, care support workers, and community learning coordinators.
Depending on your chosen specialization, you could pursue positions like special educational needs coordinator, SEND educator or administrator, or an English as a foreign language instructor.
You may also boost your professional opportunities by pursuing further studies with us at the postgraduate level.
