Previously titled Social Policy and Social Research (with Systematic Reviews) MSc, this program has been redesigned to meet contemporary needs.Program OverviewThis master's degree provides conceptual frameworks and empirical knowledge for analyzing social policy formulation, with particular emphasis on evaluating research evidence's role in policy creation and execution. A central focus involves examining emerging techniques in evidence synthesis, including applications of artificial intelligence and machine learning in systematic review processes.The dissertation allows you to undertake an independent research project under academic supervision. You may choose a topic aligned with your professional background or collaborate with external organizations to address real-world policy challenges.This ESRC-recognized program serves as both a standalone qualification and preparation for doctoral studies. Eligible for ESRC funding as the first year of a 1+3 PhD pathway, it offers a Knowledge, Evidence and Policy specialization.Study options include full-time (1 year), part-time (2 years), or flexible modular enrollment (maximum 5 years completion time).Flexible study duration - up to 5 academic years available.

Qualification Requirements

A minimum of an upper second-class Bachelors' degree from a UK university or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard in a Social Science subject, such as Sociology, Psychology, Social Policy, Economics or History. If you do not meet these requirements, other considerations, such as relevant work experience, may be taken into account. IELTS: Overall score of 7.5 and a minimum of 7.0 in each component. TOEFL: Overall score of 109 with 27/30 in reading and writing and 23/30 in speaking and listening.
