This Master of Science program explores how people perceive the social world and the mechanisms driving social judgments and actions. The curriculum leverages pioneering research from faculty specializing in social cognition, social endocrinology, socio-cognitive neuroscience, and decision-making processes, offering innovative insights into human social nature. The program aims to address real-world societal challenges in areas like climate change, mental health, inequality, and social conflict. Students will gain insights into how human emotional, cognitive, and neural systems have developed to facilitate social coordination and environmental adaptation. Core subjects cover: social perception, motivation, attitudes, embodiment, emotions, social judgment and decision-making, and social neuroscience.

Qualification Requirements

A minimum of an upper second-class Bachelor's degree from a UK university or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard. Students are expected to have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. However, very good candidates in related areas, such as management, sociology, or communication sciences, will also be considered. Students should be prepared for the mathematical component contained in the MSc-level Research Statistics module. The English language level for this programme is: Level 2

UCL Pre-Master's and Pre-sessional English courses are for international students who are aiming to study for a postgraduate degree at UCL. The courses will develop your academic English and academic skills required to succeed at postgraduate level. International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic Version - Overall score of 7.0 and a minimum of 6.5 in each component. Test of English as Foreign Language (TOEFL) - Overall score of 96 with 24/30 in reading and writing and 22/30 in speaking and listening.
