Orthoptists specialize in identifying and treating childhood eye disorders, eye movement abnormalities, and binocular vision problems. This program covers pediatric ophthalmology, strabismus (misaligned eyes), eye movement disorders, and various vision-related conditions handled by Orthoptists. During the first year, you'll study the visual system, optics, basic and advanced Orthoptics, pediatric eye care, and neuro-ophthalmology.
The second year focuses on research techniques, statistical analysis, general ophthalmology, medication dispensing (specific to Orthoptics), and hands-on clinical training. You'll develop your research abilities by completing a literature-based project on an orthoptic or ophthalmic practice topic.
