The MRes program equips students with essential skills for developing integrated electronic and photonic systems used in information technology, sensing, communications, manufacturing, and healthcare applications. Participants can select from specialized course modules and short research projects that build expertise in photonic systems, enhance research capabilities, and deepen industry knowledge. This program is particularly suited for science, engineering, and physics graduates seeking a Master's degree as preparation for PhD studies. Structured as the initial year of a four-year doctoral training pathway (1+3 model), successful completion determines eligibility for advancement to the PhD program.

The EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Connected Electronic and Photonic Systems (CEPS CDT) combines the academic prestige, collaborative networks, and cutting-edge educational approaches of two globally renowned institutions: UCL and the University of Cambridge. By harnessing the complementary strengths of both universities and incorporating interdisciplinary industry perspectives, the center offers an unparalleled doctoral training experience in this field.
