European Studies is a multidisciplinary program that examines Europe through the lenses of politics, history, literature, cinema, culture, and philosophy. Hosted by the Centre for Multidisciplinary and Intercultural Inquiry, it leverages the knowledge of faculty from the Arts and Humanities, Social and Historical Sciences, along with SSEES. This MPhil/PhD caters to those passionate about pursuing interdisciplinary research, whether they've completed postgraduate education or seek to deepen their expertise in a specialized field. Ideal candidates come from backgrounds in modern European history, political science, literary studies, or related areas. The program welcomes both recent Master's graduates and working professionals at various career stages.

Qualification Requirements

A UK Master's degree in a relevant discipline, or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard. In some cases high marks within a first-class Bachelor's degree may be acceptable. In the first instance, candidates should establish a dialogue with a potential supervisor before making a formal application. Admission is normally dependent on the submission of a detailed research project proposal. Overall grade of 7.5 with a minimum of 6.5 in each of the subtests. Overall score of 109 with 24/30 in reading and writing and 20/30 in speaking and listening.
