The MA Digital Media: Production pathway merges cultural/media studies with hands-on digital creation, enabling students to examine contemporary discussions while honing specialized production skills. Unlike programs centered solely on technical proficiency or commercial applications, this course cultivates thoughtful, analytical creators who can employ innovative research methods to navigate the evolving digital sphere and craft meaningful, impactful projects. Participants will explore digital media theory alongside practical work in areas like animation, interactive experiences (including VR/XR), game development, narrative design, and programming. This program blends critical analysis with creative execution, with the Media Production Studio at UCL Knowledge Lab providing an ideal environment for developing theory-driven digital media projects.

Qualification Requirements

Applicants with a 2:1 from a UK university, or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard, in Media Studies, Cultural Studies, Film Studies, Games Studies, Digital / Interactive Media Arts or English Literature will be considered. Applicants with a 2:2 in a relevant subject, plus at least 2 year's work experience within the fields of education, media and/or the cultural industries may be considered. Applicants with a non-relevant subject will not be considered. The English language level for this programme is: Level 3

UCL Pre-Master's and Pre-sessional English courses are for international students who are aiming to study for a postgraduate degree at UCL. The courses will develop your academic English and academic skills required to succeed at postgraduate level. International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic Version - Overall score of 7.0 and a minimum of 7.0 in each component. Test of English as Foreign Language (TOEFL) - Overall score of 100 with 25/30 in reading and writing and 23/30 in speaking and listening.
