The MSc in Law and Finance is an innovative program that bridges legal and financial disciplines to address the evolving needs of modern businesses and financial systems. Featuring a forward-thinking, multidisciplinary approach, it equips students with the expertise to excel in legal, financial, and regulatory fields, providing a competitive edge in today's intricate global economy.Program Overview:This MSc program delivers a state-of-the-art education at the crossroads of law and finance, developed collaboratively by UCL's Faculty of Laws, School of Management, and Department of Economics. In our current era of tightly regulated and interconnected financial systems, professionals must possess integrated knowledge spanning law, finance, economics, and accounting. Law firms actively seek attorneys with financial acumen and economic understanding, while financial institutions value professionals with legal training. Similarly, regulatory bodies require experts fluent in both legal and financial domains. Our groundbreaking postgraduate program responds to these industry demands by offering a comprehensive educational experience that breaks traditional academic silos. Students develop the analytical tools to understand the dynamic relationship between legal frameworks and financial systems, preparing them to address sophisticated challenges in contemporary markets. The curriculum covers essential principles of financial economics, market operations, institutional functions, and corporate regulatory structures. Graduates will be able to recognize the interplay between legal and financial considerations when evaluating complex transactions, including corporate financing, mergers and acquisitions, public offerings, and organizational restructuring.Target Audience:The program welcomes applicants with backgrounds in either law or finance-related fields such as economics or accounting. Students lacking foundational knowledge in either discipline will complete preparatory coursework before the program's official commencement, which may necessitate arriving in London ahead of schedule.
