The four-year Experimental Linguistics (International Programme) BSc closely mirrors the three-year Experimental Linguistics BSc, with the added benefit of spending an extra year overseas at one of our affiliated universities, currently located in Canada, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, the Netherlands, or the USA (note that study abroad destinations may change unexpectedly).

The Experimental Linguistics BSc offers comprehensive training in contemporary theoretical linguistics, experimental language processing techniques, and statistical methods. You'll acquire foundational knowledge in key linguistic domains: phonetics and phonology (sound production and perception), morphology and syntax (word formation and sentence structure), and semantics and pragmatics (meaning and usage). The program's flexibility lets you customize your studies to focus on specific linguistic interests or broader language-related topics. Optional modules enable deeper exploration of core subjects or branching into specialized fields like sociolinguistics, multilingualism, and language development. Electives provide opportunities to examine linguistic concepts through interdisciplinary lenses or pursue personal academic interests.

The interdisciplinary core component offers exposure to diverse academic fields and encourages critical analysis of different theoretical approaches.

Throughout the program, you'll study one primary language intensively, with some students choosing to add a secondary language during their first two years.
