Our degree program in Romanian and Yiddish provides exceptional opportunities to cultivate comprehensive, comparative, and cross-cultural perspectives in the humanities. Students can select from an extensive array of modules encompassing literature, linguistic heritage, historical studies, sociological approaches, philosophical inquiry, artistic traditions, cinematic arts, and various cultural aspects tied to the languages they'll master. During the first, second, and final academic years, participants will enroll in language courses for their selected tongues alongside complementary cultural studies. The curriculum also incorporates interdisciplinary offerings from the School of European Languages, Culture and Society (SELCS) and the School of Slavonic and East European Studies (SSEES), covering literary analysis, film studies, linguistic theory, and historical examination.
The third year involves international study, divided between two nations where the chosen languages are predominantly spoken. Regardless of initial proficiency—whether beginning as a novice or with prior experience—all students attain equivalent language mastery by program completion.
